Pasta Perfection Comes to The Mart
To say that we’ve been thrilled to have our fairs back up and running is an understatement. The first few weeks have been awesome and we are even more excited for the month of May! Pasta sensation Æmilia is coming down on the 9th, 16th and 23rd (All on a Sunday) in May to sell wonderful pasta!
What is Æmilia?
Æmilia’s journey initially began with Made by Kip. During April 2020 the adventure started… some might say it is not the best time to start a business! However, a small kitchen space during the midst of the first lockdown provided the platform for a life-changing idea. Kip and Giada (the awesome folks behind Æmilia) rolled up their sleeves, put on their masks & sanitised their hands and just started making pasta!
In a time when most people in the world just wanted a hug. They thought the best way of contributing was making delicious delivered food. Sharing the love of handmade artisan food, the joy that a simple plate of pasta can bring to the table in a time of darkness. A trip to Italy without having to leave the comfort of your own home. they have absolutely nailed it.
Fast forward a year (they had their birthday a few days ago). Now with a number of high profile food bloggers and newspaper reviews calling them pasta perfection! last weekend The Times rated them 10/10 and as a result, they sell out of their pasta everywhere they go. This week they sold out in just a few minutes. If you’ve not ordered already the only place you’ll be able to get it is at this Sunday’s fair!
They ended up growing to a size they’d never expected. and during the last lockdown, they moved from their kitchen into one of our kitchens at Colstoun Estate. From there they’ve gone from strength to strength offering not just pasta but loaves of focaccia bread, desserts, and even special valentine’s meals.
When Kip & Giada started Made by Kip it was just for fun, to be able to do something that that they loved during the first lockdown. They then asked themselves, if this is what they love doing, why are they not doing it full time? They left their stable jobs and focused 100% on making pasta. Although they’ve grown and grown over the last 12 month’s their ethos has stayed the same… “Each week, we’d share artisan food, handmade by us, from our kitchen to yours.”
What next for Æmilia?
Very soon indeed Kip and Giada are going to be moving into their very own space in Portobello. Æmilia is growing and seemingly nothing can stop it! At the moment their shop (which was the original Bross Bagel shop) is being renovated and they’ll be saying goodbye to Colstoun. We won’t be saying goodbye to them forever though… we’ve grown more than a little bit attached to them over the months we’ve known them.
