FAQS:
What is the Outreach Postal Service? Simply put, we are a mini post office that comes to your local village once or twice a week. We are here to help you with all your post office needs. We can do all the services a small rural post office can do, like deposits of cheques and cash, accepting online shopping returns, normal postal services and much more.
Why only 1 or 2 hours a time? The outreach postal service we offer only goes into villages for a limited amount of time each week. Our main post office hub is based in East Linton at the Farmshop. As you can see from our timetable, our little van is pretty busy each week, so a few hours in each village is all we can manage.
What can’t the Outreach Postal Service Do? Only royal mail crown offices can do several things that include certain drivers license-related problems and a few other things. Outreach Services are relatively minimal, and our team is highly trained and will tell you the services we can’t provide and where you can get those services done.
Does it take any longer than a normal post office? The answer to this is a bit complicated. but essentially, no it doesn’t. Firstly, we can sometimes be delayed whilst logging on to the system when we set up due to slow internet speeds in rural areas. Additionally, we can be delayed by long journeys between villages, but once the system is set up, it is good to go.
One Final Thing:
My village doesn’t have an outreach. What should I do? The best approach here is to see if there is demand in your village! We can’t make any promises, but if you can prove enough demand in your local village, we can approach the team we work with at the post office and ask if there is a possibility to add your village.
